Arthrosamid
Arthrosamid is a longer-acting injectable treatment for knee osteoarthritis, designed to integrate into the joint lining rather than being absorbed by the body like traditional injections.
How It Works
Arthrosamid is a hydrogel made of sterile water and cross-linked polyacrylamide.
Once injected, it gradually integrates into the synovial lining of the knee over four to six weeks, aiming to increase the elasticity and cushioning of the joint lining and reduce the ongoing cycle of inflammation that drives much of osteoarthritis pain.
What to Expect
Many patients notice a difference within around four weeks.
Reported symptom relief has lasted several years in a good proportion of appropriately selected patients in published studies, though individual results vary.
It's a single outpatient injection, performed under local anaesthetic with ultrasound guidance.
